Escultor Daniel Palma

As a child he spent long hours at the public library making drawings that he later sold as greeting cards. Palma attended the outdoor workshop of the "Garden of the Arts" in his hometown, where well-known national and international artists gave courses. Aside from his studies in the Fine Arts, he also spent years exploring Indian ruins and tombs in the vicinity of Lake Chapala. The work we see today is the result of his past research, combined with a unique of creativity and harmony.
The work of Daniel Palma may be considered among the contemporary artistic expression of Mexico. Regardless of the avant-garde tendency, the Pre-Colombian roots of his moving sculptures and clay objects are easily identified.
The materials he uses vary from stones, cast iron, tree trunks, branches, roots, animal bones and recycled paper to all sorts of auto parts and other pieces of machinery. Recycling and the use of the apparently least usable add to the singularity of his work.
